When your body is attempting a posture that’s currently beyond its limits, the muscles tense up, keeping you from going deeper into the posture and achieving greater flexibility.
Yoga blocks help us to:
o perform yoga postures with integrity and proper alignment
o work within our body’s limitations such as a condition, injury or illness
o protect and strengthen areas that are not equal or weak eg wrists
o open the channels for the breath (prana) to flow freely

The energy in the chakras (“wheels”) can be likened to a swirling vortex, one of the most powerful physical forces in nature – like a tornado – which are moved by polarised, opposing forces.
The chakras interact with our thoughts, emotions, health, and physical functions, thereby affecting our overall well-being.

o what the energy channels are, and where they are located
o the chakra system as a yogic dimension of mind-body connection

In this workshop, we will use a combination of yoga postures, meditation techniques, yogic interventions, group discussion and self-observation to begin to move forward freely in life and unleash our true potential.

o Find out how our body, mind, and life history can affect our pelvis and may lead to certain physiological conditions.

Deanna is an in-training Yoga Therapist that uses therapeutic interventions, based in yoga and meditation techniques and philosophy, to increase mobility, improve health and well-being, as well as experience more loving and compassionate relationships. My posture has improved and with that the ache between my shoulders has virtually gone. We have worked constantly on flexibility and particularly for me, hip flexibility. As a result, I now experience extraordinarily little lower back pain. One additional benefit has been how much easier it is to do some of the household chores especially picking things up off the floor. Or driving in the car I find myself sitting up rather than slumped down over the steering wheel.
I suffer from hay fever and would describe myself as a mouth breather. Yoga has improved my respiratory system and I am breathing more through my nose than my mouth. Surprisingly, on my recent visit to my optometrist he recommended that I needed a lower prescription as my sight had improved. Think it might have something to do with “left eye looks at right thumb”!
I now understand that as we get older balance can be more of a challenge. Yoga has alerted me to how much of a change has occurred. How often in a busy day do you stand on one leg? So now I do stand on one leg whenever I can.
Overall, I am feeling more toned and healthier. After a class more peaceful and relaxed. I look forward to my yoga sessions. It is true. It’s never too late to start. I started yoga when I was 68. Alannah Qld 4103
Yoga not only helps improve your body, but also helps with mindfulness and meditation. It is important to take a break from daily life in order to focus on yourself and get clarity. Focusing on your breath during practice is key to staying in tune with your mind and body.
